New Movement for Replica Panerais
Written By: Ziggy Zumba
2006-01-16 11:06:23
Here Ziggyzumba dissects one of the newest threats in the replica market: Chinese copies of the ETA 6497-2. Up to this time one of the easiest ways of spotting a fake Panerai (which uses a version of this movement) was to simply LISTEN. Because the replicas were based on the slower 6497-1 movement, genuine watches had 6 "ticks" per second versus the 5 ticks of the fakes.

The ever-inventive Chinese have copied the faster 6497-2 movement, and have even duplicated the swan-neck bridge that is the signature of the Panerai movement. Ziggy takes one apart and compares the movement to an Swiss ETA one. A great read for any Panerai buyer on the market for a new watch.

Replica Omega Constellation

There are variations of this replica Omega Constellation in pretty much every form that the genuine watch is available in: solid gold, two-tone, and even ladies examples. The replicas can range in quality; the cheaper ones are easy to spot because of the poor materials and craftsmanship. The high-end models are much more difficult to spot since they use ETA movements, sometimes even decorated as the genuine movement. Still as always the genuine's materials and quality stands out from any of the fakes.
