This Chanel J12 is a surprise replica for 2005. The Chanel line has not been accurately replicated until this example. It actually uses a ceramic composite like the original watch does. Fairly accurate, this watch seeks to cement its appearance by using a genuine Chanel box. It comes in white and black.

Franck Muller replicas are usually fairly easy to spot: cheap materials, crappy dials, poor case-back engravings. The replica shown in the photos below is a good example of how these flaws can be overcome with customization. It's also a testament to buying your watches from Authorized Dealers (AD). You avoid most of the risk of being taken by high-end custom-made replicas that use genuine parts, sometimes called "frankenwatches".

One of the more interesting designs that Franck Muller has put out is the "Crazy Hours" watch, where the hour positions are mixed up on the dial and the hands "snap" to the proper hour and minute position.

One enterprising replica maker has found an Asian movement that simulates this functionality. With fairly accurate case engravings the main thing to spot on this watch is the build quality.

The pictures below are of a replica IWC Aquatimer.  The quality is below that of a genuine IWC in just about every category.  Most visible is the poor-quality bezel.  The black in the bezel has the appearance of being colored in with a magic marker.  Also the hour markers are of an incorrect size.  This is another example of a poor quality replica that will probably improve in quality over the next few months.
