Made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner, the "Green" sub is highly prized amongst collectors. There are a variety of fakes of this watch, ranging from just installing a green bezel on a regular Submariner replica to some very accurate replica Rolex Submariners with the proper hands and dial.

This fake Rolex falls somewhere in the middle. Note the over-bold date wheel as being inaccurate.

The "Red" Submariner is an example of a rare watch that has been duplicated by the replica makers.  Commonly they will use a standard modern-day replica Submariner case and simply add an "aged" (yellowed) dial and call it a day.  The example below is indicative of the common vintage fake Rolex Submariner.

Unfortunately there are some VERY convincing replicas on the market, that use the correct case, bezel, and even use OEM acrylic crystals.  As with any expensive purchase, "buy the seller" when deciding to pick up a rare watch.

The Rolex Submariner is probably the most replicated watch on the market.  It's ubiquity and desirability make it profitable to mass produce as a counterfeit.  This watch varies the most in terms of quality of the fakes.  The Replica Watch Report goes into greater details in terms of the more common flaws, but watch out for simple things such as malformed crown guards and inaccurate date wheel fonts.

The watch pictured below is a more recent replica.  To date we haven't seen any fake Submariner that hasn't had significant flaws that make their identification rather easy.  Be wary: there are some high-end replicas that have genuine parts installed and have been altered to eliminate most of the significant flaws. 

The Turn-o-graph is a version of the Rolex DateJust with a rotating bezel and red-colored date wheel.  This model has been replicated with varying success.  The photographs below are of the latest version with the new Rolex clasp.

The Rolex Yachtmaster has had a variety of replicas over the years. The most recent examples (such as the one below) on the high end have actually copied the case fairly accurately. Genuine Rolex Yacht-masters have a wide minute hand and bold "Yacht-master" type on the dial. Also weight is a factor. Genuine Rolex Yachtmasters have a platinum bezel which makes the watch HEAVY. Rolex Yachtmaster watches should also have no lug holes in the case.
